To be part of the rankings a conference has to have a minimum of 50% of the colleges listed in the US News & World Report and their individual rankings of best universities and colleges.

Four conferences do not have enough colleges ranked: 1. MASCAC, 2.Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, 3. New England Collegiate Conference and 4. North Atlantic Conference.
