Drill Description
-
The players are divided into three teams of four. Teams A and B play 4 vs. 4 in a 25 x 35-yard field on two goals with goalkeepers. The players on Team C take positions in one half of the field: one on each sideline and two on the endline on both sides of Goal 1. Each wall player has three balls.
-
The wall players take turns passing to players from Team A, which then tries to score on Goal 1. Team B defends Goal 1 and may counterattack on Goal 2 if it wins the ball. After a score, the round is over, and another player from A runs out to receive a pass from the wall players and start again. After twelve rounds, Team A and B switch roles. Which team can score more goals?
Coaching Tips
-
Each player is assigned to an opposing player. Instead of playing as a team, individual players take turns receiving passes from the wall players and playing 1 vs. 1 with their opposites to score.
-
To make the receiving more difficult, wall players will serve the ball in the air.
-
All four wall players position themselves along the sidelines and play the ball to the attackers with a throw-in.
