Attack Training

Quick transition drills: switching halves

Drill Description

  • A second goal with goalkeeper is set up just behind the centerline.
  • The width of the fields slightly reduced. Sidelines and centerline are marked with cones.
  • Two teams of five.
  • The coach is positioned to one side of the centerline, with balls.
  • 5 versus 5 on two goals with goalkeepers. In order to score, all attackers must first cross the centerline. When play stops (shot, out of touch or offsides), the coach throws a new ball into the other half. Both teams must immediately switch directions and continue the game according to the new situation.

Coaching Tips

  • 6 versus 6 or 7 versus 7, on a slightly larger field.
  • For more advanced players, restrict the number of touches allowed.
