Attack Training

Building the attack drills: zone breakthrough - 2 versus 1 + GK

Drill Description

  • The field is slightly larger than a regular half.
  • A goal with goalkeeper is set up on each endline.
  • The field is divided into three zones with cones.
  • Two teams of five start out in the middle zone.
  • Each play begins 5 versus 5 in the middle zone. The attackers play combinations to get one of their players across the line into the opposition's goal zone with the ball. One teammate may cross after him/her, and then both attackers play 2 versus 1 against the goalkeeper.

Coaching Tips

  • The attackers who dribbles across the line must go solo against the goalkeeper.
  • For less advanced players, 4 versus 4 in the middle zone.
