Shooting and set plays: 4 + 4 versus 4 + 4

Drill Description

  • The field is twice the size of a regular penalty area.
  • A goal with goalkeeper is set up on each endline.
  • Two teams of eight, distributed as follows: 4 versus 4 within the field and four more from each team outside, one attacker and one defender on each sideline or endline.
  • 4 versus 4 on two goals with goalkeepers. Attackers may use their outside players to set up the attack. All players may use their outside players to set up the attack. All players are limited to one touch. A goal scored directly off of a pass from a teammate counts double. After four minutes and an active rest period, players switch positions with their teammates.

Coaching Tips

  • The inside players get two or three touches.
  • Scoring on a header after a pass from a teammate counts triple.
