2 vs. 2 on two goals in the penalty area

Drill Description

• Two teams play 2 vs. 2 inside the penalty area on two goals with goalkeepers
• Each team tries to score on the opposition's goal.
• However, only one player on each team is allowed to shoot at any given time.
• At the coach's signal, the role of "shooter" switches from one attacker to the other.

Coaching Tips

• Players must react to the signal quickly.
• Play aggressively, but under control, to keep your opponent from scoring.
• Variations: Substitute small goals for the large ones.
• Variations: Make it a team competition. Two players from Team A against two players from Team B for two minutes. The points from all 2 vs. 2's are added to make team totals. Which team can score more goals?
