Reaction Speed in Small Spaces

Warm up Part 1
 
Organization:
  • Create two 40 x 20 Y passing grids
Drill:
  • Starting player passes the ball to the middle player who receives the ball while opening up and passing the ball to the 3rd player
  • Every player follows his/her pass 

Main Part 1
 
Organization: 
  • Create a 35 x 20 yard grid
  • Two goals on each end-line
  • Two different colors of discs on each side of one of the goals and one disc on each side of the opposite goal
  • The players on the side with only disc on either side of the goal have the balls
Drill:
  • The Coach calls a color
  • The players whose color was called dribbles into the field and plays a 1-2 with one of his/her teammates
  • 3 versus 2
  • If the defenders win the ball they counterattack 

Conclusion
 
Organization:
  • Keep the set up
  • Two teams with four players from each team positioned on the outside of the grid
  • The outside players have the balls
Drill:
  • The coach calls the name of one of the outside players who will pass the ball to one of the his/her teammates
  • 4 versus 4
