Session 1: Monday

MAIN SESSION/COOL-DOWN

SETUP

For the main session, players divide up between two stations (six players each). Every four minutes (and after an active rest period - ball handling exercises), the two teams switch stations, for a total of two rounds.

SETUP FOR STATION 1

Players divide into two teams, in front of a goal with goalkeeper.

  • Team A (three players): Players line up at the beginning of a coordination parcourse. Each one has a ball.
  • Team B (three players): 25 yards from the goal.

SETUP FOR STATION 2

  • Set up three small goals on each endline of a 3- x 2--yard field.
  • Players form two teams of three

COORDINATION AND SHOOTING

The first player from Team A passes to the first one from B, then runs through the parcourse and does the following coordination exercises:

  • 1. Fast knee lifts with a different number of touches between each set of poles.
  • 2. Fast knee lifts alternating with heel kicks: two of the one, the two of the other.
  • 3. Galloping between the poles. Meanwhile, the player from B receives the pass, fakes in front of a cone, and shoots.

TRAINING TIP

The coordination exercises, depend on your training objective and players' skills level.

3 V. 3 ON THREE SMALL GOALS

  • Each team defends the three small goals on one endline. Each player is responsible for one goal, but all three defenders should help each other by traveling with the ball.
  • Both teams can score by passing through one of the opposition's goal.

TRAINING TIP

These simple game forms establish the basic skills of ball-oriented defense.
