Taking advantage of throw-ins

Focus: Coordinating Showing Runs

1. Setup

  • Players form two groups of equal size.
  • Group 1 stands on the sideline. Each player has a ball.
  • Group 2 stands at the inside right (or inside left) position, about 30 yards in front of a goal with goalkeeper.

Throw-in to Set Up a Shot

  • The first player in Group 1 throws the ball into the path of the first player in Group 2.
  • This player receives the ball on the run and shoots.
  • Afterwards, each player moves to the end of the other line.

Variation

  • After the throw-in, the thrower shows for a pass to the wing, receives the ball and crosses into the penalty area for the other player to shoot.
